A propos de moi

I am a native English speaker from the UK, and I have a very high level of French and Spanish as I studied both throughout university, and have spent several years living in each country. Living in Barcelona has also given me the chance to learn Catalan, and I am available to carry out translations with this language. Before my master's degree, I studied French Studies (with Spanish language) at the University of Leeds.

I enjoy translation for many reasons; I have always had an interest in foreign languages and cultures, so for me, it is ideal to have the opportunity to work with them. I also enjoy seeing a project through from start to end, and carrying out research on the topic of the source text in order to ensure a solid result. Furthermore, reformulating material into my own language is interesting to me, and I also work several hours per week as an English teacher, which helps to cement the intricacies of my native language in my own mind.

Thanks to my education, as well as learning the relevant skills for different types of translation, such as resources for technical or legal translation, I have also learnt a lot about the technology and software used in the field. I use Trados 2017 and Memsource as the main programmes for my work. I have carried out assignments in many fields such as tourism, technology, literary and website translation. I can provide examples of each from my portfolio upon request, as well as other fields.

I am a tax resident in Spain (where I am mainly based), so I have all the necessary documentation to work here as a freelancer. I also have dual nationality with another EU country so I can avoid any Brexit-related bureaucratic issues. I eagerly look forward to hearing from you.
